Scoring Methodology

The Reference.
Framework

Every product is independently evaluated out of 100 points across five categories. The score determines whether a product earns Bronze, Silver, or Gold, or whether it makes it onto our shelves at all.

Assessed. Not assumed.

We read the ingredients so you don't have to.

Ingredient Integrity
Preference is given to products made from whole food ingredients, with higher scores awarded for ingredient quality, integrity and minimal unnecessary additions.
40 pts
Processing Level
Minimal processing scores highest (drying, fermenting, cold-pressing). Heavily industrial formulations score lower.
20 pts
Nutritional Value
Points are awarded for considered macronutrient and micronutrient levels. Excessive sugar or low nutritional value scores lower.
20 pts
Transparency & Sourcing
Nothing hidden. Nothing assumed. If we can't see it clearly, it doesn't pass the threshold.
10 pts
Simplicity
Simpler formulations reflect higher ingredient quality. Shorter lists with clear, recognisable ingredients score highest.
10 pts
Total possible score 100 points
70–79 Bronze 80–89 Silver 90–100 Gold

Our
Commitment

The Reference. Framework exists to make food easier to understand. Every product has been independently assessed before it reaches our shelves, giving you a clearer, simpler way to shop for food that supports long-term health and longevity. We don't stock products we wouldn't eat ourselves.

Our Movement

We're redefining what people consider "healthy food".

We stand against ultra-processed food systems that prioritise shelf life and scale over ingredient integrity and long-term wellbeing.

With frustration,
comes exploration.

Our Story

It began on a Monday morning. Standing in the supermarket aisle, holding a tub of cottage cheese, the nutrition label was promising, it was high protein, low fat and ultimately gym-approved. Far from it, it was riddled with preservatives, additives and unnecessary stabilisers.

It was strange that something so simple had become so complicated. I found myself wondering: what if there was a place where you didn't have to decode ingredient lists, where you could trust every product on the shelf was "good for you".

So I built one.

Our Mission

Have you heard that old saying, pay the farmer now or the doctor later? We believe real food begins in the soil.

Somewhere between the farm and your pantry, integrity is often lost and intervention is required.

The Reference. exists to protect what should never have been altered.

So we're not replacing the farmer and we're not replacing the doctor. We're acting as the guardian of what happens in between.

We set a consistent standard for how food is evaluated, based on ingredient integrity, processing, nutrition and transparency. That standard becomes your reference point. A clear, reliable way to compare products and make better decisions. When the reference point is clear, choosing well becomes easy.

What we're
built on.

Our Values

01

Integrity

We assess critically and honestly, always. Every product we stock has earned its place. We don't soften our standards to increase range and we don't bend criteria for profit convenience. Integrity is our filter.

02

Transparency

We believe consumers deserve clear information about the products they use. We favour brands that are open and transparent about their ingredients, sourcing and production practices, and we apply the same standard to ourselves.

03

Discipline

Discipline creates consistency. Through clear systems, measurable progress and accountability, we help make better decisions easier to repeat.

04

Trust

Earned and kept through consistency. Trust is not a marketing tool, it is built through integrity, discipline and transparency.

05

Stewardship

We protect and guide long-term wellbeing. Food decisions compound, small choices, repeated daily, shape outcomes over time. We exist to support your better habits.

The Graphic.

At the centre is the reference point, a clear standard for what good food looks like.

The rings surrounding the core represent the decisions that support it, the small, consistent choices that protect and build over time.

Every ring is a record. The quiet evidence of what you kept choosing.
